Susan McCulloch is the judge for the 35th Alice Prize 2008.
In Tandem: Commemoration of Alan McCulloch's centenary
To commemorate the birth of Alan McCulloch one hundred years ago, his daughter Susan McCulloch will share recollections of her father and the legacy he created. Alan McCulloch (1907–1992) was the founding author of McCulloch's Encyclopedia of Australian Art and was one of Australia's foremost art critics for more than 60 years.
He was founding director of the Mornington Peninsula Regional Gallery and established its inaugural collection of unique works on paper. Discover how Alan worked towards establishing the Gallery while also writing the first edition of the 'bible' of Australian art in the Shoreham studio built by himself and Arthur Boyd. Hear recollections of boisterous evenings at the studio with Godfrey Miller, John Perceval, John Brack, the Boyds, Albert Tucker, Charles Blackman, Dorothy Braund, Barry Humphries and many others.
