The Official Launch for the new
McCulloch's Encyclopedia of Australian Art was held at
Australian Galleries in Melbourne on Monday November 13 2006. The book was launched by Patrick McCaughey.
Speakers for the evening were
Stuart Purves, Director of Australian Galleries
Louise Adler, Publisher at MUP The Miegunyah Press
Patrick McCaughey
and
Emily McCulloch Childs and Susan McCulloch
It was a successful night with a huge attendance including plenty of artists, curators and writers, and many friends, many of whom have known all three generations of the McCulloch family. The launch recieved several mentions in the press, including in Lawrence Money's
Diary in
The Age, thanks to McCaughey's wonderful speech, in which he spoke of Diderot, Alan McCulloch, the founding author of the
Encyclopedia, and rather generously compared the McCulloch dynasty to the Bach family.
Below are some photos from the night taken by photographers Andrew Henshaw and Nigel Carboon.
